California Social Services Agency Reports Devices Lost During Disaster Recovery Test

SAN FRANCISCO—Computer storage devices containing names, Social Security numbers, and other identifying information on 800,000 individuals receiving or paying child support were recently lost in transit, the California Department of Child Support Services announced March 29.

The department, which ensures children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support, said it was notified March 12 the devices were missing and confirmed March 20 they contained personal information.
