Officials from California’s privacy agency offered a first look Thursday at the platform that will allow residents to more easily delete their personal information held by the hundreds of data brokers in the state.
The Delete Request and Opt-Out Platform—known as DROP—is a first-of-its-kind data deletion mechanism in the US set to launch for consumers in January 2026. It was unveiled at IAPP’s conference in San Diego dedicated to privacy, security, and risk for data governance professionals.
