California’s privacy agency is seeking input from companies and consumers on whether new rules are needed to regulate the use of employee and job applicants’ personal data.
The California Privacy Protection Agency, or CalPrivacy, also asked Monday whether new rules could simplify companies’ privacy policies—asking consumers if they find them too confusing or unclear, and businesses if they struggle to describe their practices.
CalPrivacy’s request for preliminary comments on disclosures and employee data is the latest in a swath of early rulemaking activity as the agency also considers regulation on topics including data broker audits and opt outs. ...
