California Privacy Agency Revises Draft Rules on AI, Assessments

The California Privacy Protection Agency’s board on Friday moved closely watched regulations around automated technology and privacy assessments closer toward their implementation, kicking off a long process that will begin this summer.

The draft regulations would give state residents a right to prohibit their personal data from being used within automated decision-making technology, including artificial intelligence. They detail when companies doing business in the state must provide assessments of their privacy practices, especially if AI is involved.
