California Northstate University Worker Sues Over Data Breach

California Northstate University LLC failed to protect the personal information of thousands of current and former employees and students that was exposed in a February 2023 ransomware attack and data breach, a proposed federal class action said.

Erika Titus-Lay, a former worker for the school, alleged that the university failed to implement reasonable and effective measures to protect sensitive data, properly train its employees, comply with industry data-security standards, or give timely and adequate notice of the breach.

Information exposed in the breach included names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, physical addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, and W-2 forms, ...
