California Lawmakers Propose More Changes to New Privacy Law

More lawmakers in California are proposing changes to the state’s sweeping new privacy law.

Three bills introduced Feb. 20 join a fourth introduced in December as the likely places proposed changes will surface in the next few months. State lawmakers may introduce even more bills.

The bills have few details yet, but may address issues about the California Consumer Privacy Act that business groups, consumer advocates, or California Attorney General Xavier Becerra (D) have raised.

All three camps say that the law, which was passed quickly in June 2018, needs changes. Lawmakers have said they will only consider minor changes. ...
