California Consumer Privacy Notices Issued for Loyalty Programs

California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued notices of noncompliance to businesses allegedly operating loyalty programs that violate the California Consumer Privacy Act.

The notices were issued to major corporations in the retail, travel, food, and home improvement industries, according to an announcement from Bonta’s office. Those companies will have 30 days to cure and come into compliance with the law.

Bonta’s office didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment about which entities received notices.

“I urge all businesses in California to take note and be transparent about how you’re using your customer’s data,” Bonta (D) said in a statement. ...
