Bumble, New Jersey Strike Background Check Disclosure Settlement

Bumble Inc. cut a $315,000 deal with New Jersey prosecutors Wednesday, evading litigation over allegations that the dating app misrepresented its criminal background checks to users.

The company and New Jersey Attorney General reached a settlement that requires Bumble to update its terms and conditions to more explicitly call out the company’s efforts to kick sexual predators off of the site—and the limits of the company’s ability to do so.
