Boston Children’s Health Physicians Faces Data Breach Suit (1)

Boston Children’s Health Physicians LLP faces a proposed class action accusing it of failing to protect the sensitive personal and health information of potentially tens of thousands of patients.

BCHP discovered a data breach on or around Sept. 10 and began notifying victims on Oct. 4, according to a complaint filed Oct. 18 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Because BCHP waited more than three weeks to disclose the breach, “plaintiffs and class members were deprived of the opportunity to take any steps to prevent damage,” the complaint alleges.
