Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois allegedly failed to protect the information of current and former members that was exposed in a June data breach, a proposed federal class action said.
Lois Montgomery says that Blue Cross failed to implement reasonable measures to protect sensitive information, failed to abide by industry data-security standards and those mandated under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and waited too long to inform those affected by the breach.
