Two New York hospital patients are alleging Blackbaud Inc. failed to safeguard health data after patient information from the hospitals was compromised in a ransomware attack earlier this year.
The Charleston, S.C.-based cloud services provider acted negligently and violated state consumer protection laws by not complying with industry standards for data protection, the patients alleged in potential class actions filed Monday in federal courts in the southern and eastern districts of New York.
