Tech Group Sues Arkansas Over Teen Social Media Restrictions (2)

An Arkansas law that requires parental permission to register for social media accounts and age checks to access certain online platforms is unconstitutional, a big tech lobbying group argued in a new federal lawsuit.

The state measure, which is slated to go into effect Sept. 1, flies in the face of free speech protections and is preempted by federal law, according to NetChoice’s complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.
