Biden Seeks to Secure National Security Systems in Cyber Memo

President Joe Biden directed the federal government to implement cybersecurity measures for national security, defense, and intelligence systems that are at least as tough as those required for other agencies.

In a national security memorandum issued Wednesday, Biden set out timelines and guidance for using measures such as multifactor authentication, encryption, and cloud technologies.

The memorandum builds on an earlier executive order Biden signed in May that seeks to strengthen the federal government’s cyber posture and aims to improve cyber information sharing with the private sector.
