President Joe Biden proposed allocating $15 million to stand up a new cybersecurity office — called the National Cyber Director — responsible for coordinating policy across the government and private sector.
The funding was included in the fiscal 2022 budget, released by the White House on Friday. The position was mandated by the National Defense Authorization Act of 2021, and Biden nominated National Security Agency veteran Chris Inglis to fill the role.
