BGOV OnPoint: Republicans Nix More Biden Rules, EPA Waivers

Republicans are on track to block more policies from the Biden administration using the Congressional Review Act than they did during President Donald Trump’s first term for Obama-era regulations.

The Senate last week cleared three resolutions to invalidate EPA waivers allowing California to set stricter vehicle emissions standards (H. J. Res. 87, H. J. Res. 88, H. J. Res. 89) — though Republicans first had to vote to set a new precedent allowing the action after the parliamentarian had advised they weren’t eligible for the CRA process.
