AutoNation Facing Intercepted Customer Call Wiretap Suit (1)

Two California residents filed a class action lawsuit against AutoNation Inc. alleging a third-party software provider it uses intercepts customer service calls in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act.

John Reyes and Mike Xavier allege that AutoNation employed a service provided by Invoca Inc. to record and analyze phone conversations between AutoNation’s customers and its call centers without the customers’ consent. They claim that Invoca’s service intercepted, recorded, and learned the contents of their confidential communications with AutoNation, including personally identifiable and sensitive information. Invoca isn’t named as a defendant.
