Auto Group Moves to Block Massachusetts Vehicle Repair Data Law

A trade group representing Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co., and other auto companies is seeking to block a recently passed Massachusetts law expanding access to vehicle data from taking effect.

The law, which Massachusetts voters approved by ballot measure last month, updates the state’s 2013 “Right to Repair” law and requires manufacturers to give additional vehicle data to third-party repair shops. It would apply to model year 2022 vehicles, which may be sold as early as January 2021, the group, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, said.
