Ascension Health Hit With Lawsuit Wave Over Ransomware Breach

St. Louis-based Ascension Health is facing five proposed class actions over a May 9 data breach and ransomware attack that exposed patients’ personal information and disrupted clinical and other operations.

Katherine Negon, Ana M. Turner, Angel J. Negon, Michael Shuta, and Christina McClellan allege in separate lawsuits that Ascension breached its obligations to comply with HIPAA data-security standards and failed to implement adequate measures to protect sensitive information or provide adequate notice of the breach.
