Apria Healthcare to Pay $6.4 Million to Resolve Breach Claims

Apria Healthcare LLC would pay $6.375 million to settle claims its inadequate security practices enabled a data breach that exposed the personal information of about 1.9 million patients, according to a proposed agreement.

Plaintiffs filed an unopposed motion for preliminary approval Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Plaintiffs’ counsel plans to ask for a third of the settlement fund in attorneys’ fees, plus up to $50,000 to cover litigation costs, according to a memorandum filed in support of the motion.
