Applus Technologies Defeats Suit Over Data Breach of Driver Info

Applus Technologies Inc. escaped claims brought over a data breach that compromised the personal identifying information of Connecticut drivers, after a federal judge ruled that the drivers didn’t have standing to bring the claims because they didn’t suffer concrete injuries from the breach.

Amelia Yankovich and Joseph Allen sued the vehicle inspections company, alleging that its negligence allowed cybercriminals to hack into its systems and steal drivers’ names, addresses, dates of birth, personal identification numbers, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and license plate numbers.
