Apple Wants App Store Fake Cryptocurrency Wallet Lawsuit Axed

A proposed class action against Apple Inc. over a fraudulent cryptocurrency wallet app downloaded from its App Store should be dismissed because its platform is shielded by Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the tech giant is arguing in California federal court.

Apple, accused of violating computer fraud, consumer privacy, and wiretap laws, is protected by Section 230, which provides immunity for website platforms with respect to third-party content, the company said in a motion to dismiss filed April 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
