Apple Apps Illegally Track Users Despite Opt-Outs, Lawsuit Says

Apple Inc. illegally collects and monetizes consumer data from its mobile devices and apps even after users enable features intended to stop data tracking, according to a proposed class action filed in Pennsylvania federal court.

The company’s proprietary apps—including the App Store, Apple TV, and Stocks—tracks and shares detailed information about how a user engages with them, in violation of Pennsylvania’s wiretap law, said the lawsuit in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
