Angelika Film Online Users Advance Suit Over Meta Info Sharing

The operator of the Angelika Film Centers theater chain must face a proposed class action alleging it shared information about the movie trailer-watching histories of its online users with Meta Platforms Inc. in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Lead plaintiff Haley Berryman adequately pleaded that she was a “consumer” and that the operator, Reading International Inc., was a “video tape services provider” under the VPPA, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York said Tuesday.
