Ancestry.com Appeals for Arbitration of Minors’ Privacy Claims

A district court wrongly held that Ancestry.com DNA LLC couldn’t force minors to arbitrate their genetic-privacy claims against it under an agreement entered into by their parents when registering DNA tests on their behalf, the company told a federal appeals court.

Legal guardians acting on behalf of minors can bind them to an arbitration agreement even without the minors’ personal consent, Ancestry said in an opening brief filed June 16 in the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
