Amazon’s PillPack Takes Early Loss in Telemarketing Class Suit

Online pharmacy Pillpack LLC, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, must face a proposed class action alleging it caused telemarketing calls to be made to consumers without their consent in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, a federal court ruled.

There were genuine issues of material fact as to whether PillPack was liable under the TCPA for calls made on its behalf by vendors of a telemarketing subcontractor, Judge David G. Estudillo of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said Monday.

Estudillo denied PillPack’s motion for summary judgment.
