Amazon Wins Dismissal in Alexa Voice Capture Privacy Suit

Amazon Inc. escaped a lawsuit accusing it of violating privacy and consumer protections by collecting voice data through its Alexa virtual assistant technology.

A federal judge on Friday dismissed the case, saying the two plaintiffsfailed to state a claim in their original proposed class action filed on June 8 in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington state.

Plaintiffs James Gray and Scott Horton sued Amazon, saying that Alexa of captured their voice data to inform the company’s targeted advertising.
