Amazon Suit Advances Over Recorded Capital One Customer Calls

Amazon Web Services Inc. must face a proposed class action alleging it intercepted the communications consumers had with its client Capital One without their consent in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act

Plaintiff Andrea Gladstone adequately pleaded that Amazon acted for its own purposes in recording Capital One’s customer service calls and online chats and not as a “mere tape recorder” for the bank, Judge Tana Lin of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said Tuesday.
