Amazon Settles Kids’ Privacy Case With FTC for $25 Million

Amazon.com Inc. will pay $25 million to resolve allegations that it illegally collected data about kids through its Alexa smart speakers

In a complaint filed in federal court in Washington state on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission, the Justice Department said Amazon’s Alexa-powered speakers collected information about children under the age of 13 without parental consent in violation of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
