Angela Hogan sued Amazon in June 2021 alleging the e-commerce company violated BIPA by applying image recognition technology to photos people upload to their Amazon photos account without their consent. Hogan says this includes people who aren’t Prime subscribers who use the service but whose images are nevertheless stored in Amazon Photos, like her minor son.
