Amazon Hit With Video-Privacy Suit Over Fire TV Data Sharing

Two Fire TV users sued Amazon.com Inc. and three of its subsidiaries for allegedly using surveillance software to secretly monitor and record everything displayed on their television screens without proper consent.

Nancy Manypenny and Kenneth Enser filed the proposed class action Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Washington. Manypenny purchased an Amazon Fire TV in May 2024, and Enser bought a Toshiba Corp. television running Amazon’s Fire TV operating system in October 2024.
