“The video rental histories that Amazon stores include every video that the customer has ever rented” from the online retailer’s streaming platform, according to the class action complaint filed Thursday in Seattle federal court.
The suit was brought under state privacy laws in New York and Minnesota that direct video rental providers to delete customer records. It alleges that Amazon stores rental records indefinitely, along with other customer information including names, payment cards, and billing addresses.
