AddShoppers Proposed Class Rejected After Discovery Problems

AddShoppers and Peet’s Coffee defeated a bid for class certification in an online tracking pixel case after discovery revealed that the named plaintiffs weren’t sufficiently representative of other proposed members.

“Named plaintiffs are not being vetted carefully enough,” Judge Vince Chhabria of the US District Court for the Northern District of California said Thursday, citing other cases where the lead representative had rendered a class untenable.
