Accounting Firm Battling Cybersecurity Lawsuit Seeks Dismissal

Brady Martz & Associates PC, an accounting services firm, asked a federal court in North Dakota to dismiss allegations it was negligent in protecting customer data because the firm has no business relationship with those bringing the lawsuit.

The purported class action plaintiffs shared personal data with their employers, who subsequently disclosed it to Brady Martz, meaning the firm didn’t owe those individuals a duty of care, said the motion to dismiss filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of North Dakota.
