Abercrombie Accused of Customer Data-Sharing Violations Online

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. violated Californians’ privacy when it shared their personal and credit card information with a third-party payment processor, a proposed class action alleges.

Fraud-prevention service Signifyd intercepts Abercrombie customers’ personally identifying information, including payment information, email addresses, phone numbers and IP addresses, according to the complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. That data transfer acts as a “wiretap” in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act, the complaint argues.
