3M, Toll Operator $215 Million Privacy Deal Approved (Correct)

A certified class of California drivers saw their $215 million settlement with toll operators and 3M approved by a federal judge, following six years of litigation over the collection of personal identifiable information on two Southern California toll roads.

The drivers alleged that the process used to identify toll evaders violated California law by using license plate numbers and other identifying information to try to collect unpaid tolls, affecting 15 million drivers. Around two million class members will be receiving monetary relief from the settlement, the class of drivers said.
