Kronos’ $15.3 Million Biometric Privacy Deal Gets Initial Nod

A $15.3 million settlement resolving claims workplace management software company Kronos Inc. violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act was preliminarily approved by a federal judge in the state.

The approved settlement class includes people who used a Kronos time clock with finger sensor for timekeeping purposes in Illinois and whose data was hosted by Kronos between January 2014 and March 2022, Judge Gary Feinerman wrote in an order filed Feb. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing Kronos didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
