Woman May Pursue Punitive Damages Against Maker of NuvaRing Contraceptive

A Missouri woman alleging she suffered a pulmonary embolism caused by the NuvaRing contraceptive may seek punitive damages against manufacturer Organon USA Inc., the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri held July 12 (Prather v. Organon, USA Inc. (In re Nuvaring Products Liab. Litig.), E.D. Mo., 4:08-cv-00558-RWS, 7/12/13).

The court first determined that the law of Missouri, where plaintiff Marianne Prather was injured, governed the suit.
