Wisconsin Hospital Owes $8 Million for Failing to Prevent Attack

Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin must pay $8 million damages to the family of a woman attacked by a person in its waiting room who was known to present a security risk, a state appeals court said.

The facility acted negligently with respect to an attack on Mary Miceli-Krupka by failing to alert security when another family, including a 16-year-old identified as “Jade,” entered the hospital, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals said in an unpublished opinion Thursday.
