An official leading the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy settlement for the New York Attorney General’s office is married to a pharmaceutical executive with apparent ties to the opioid abatement business, raising concerns about a potential conflict of interest.
Senior Enforcement Attorney David Nachman, who also holds the title of counsel for opioids and impact litigation for New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office, is leading negotiations for the largely Democratic states that oppose the company’s proposed $10.5 billion deal to resolve its liability in the opioid crisis, according to people familiar with Purdue settlement discussions.
