Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. Nov. 30 said it has launched an authorized generic version of the cholesterol drug Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium tablets) as part of an exclusive agreement with Pfizer Inc.
Pfizer’s exclusivity for its blockbuster cholesterol drug expired Nov. 30. Under the terms of the exclusive supply and distribution agreement, Pfizer manufactures and supplies Watson with all dosage strengths of the authorized generic version of Lipitor. Watson markets and distributes the product in the United States.
