Utah Final Rule on Communicable Disease Reports

The Utah Department of Health, Bureau of Epidemiology, Aug. 15 issued a final rule that amends regulations under R386-702 regarding communicable diseases.

The rule modifies and adds reportable conditions to include or be compatible with new nationally notifiable conditions and clarifies requirements for reportable conditions, reporting methodology, public food handlers, and information regarding management of typhoid disease carriers and contacts. The rule also clarifies requirements for the submission of isolates, especially suspect bioterrorism agents, to the Unified State Laboratories: Public Health.
