UK to Offer Vaccine More Widely to Help Control Monkeypox Spread

The UK plans to increase the provision of vaccines to high-risk populations in an effort to contain the spread of monkeypox.

The government recommends that some gay and bisexual men at higher risk of exposure to the virus should be offered vaccines to help rein in the outbreak, according to a strategy published Tuesday by the UK Health Security Agency. The smallpox vaccine Imvanex, which is shown to be effective against monkeypox, will be used.
