Inspections of two compounding pharmacies in 2013 resulted in the July 29 posting online of Food and Drug Administration warning letters.
The letters were sent to Illinois-based PharMEDium Services LLC and Texas-based Abrams Royal Pharmacy Inc.
In the letter to PharMEDium, the FDA said its investigators conducted inspections of the company’s facilities in Cleveland, Mo.; Edison, N.J.; Memphis; and Sugar Land, Texas between Feb. 19, 2013, and March 22, 2013. The investigators found serious deficiencies in the company’s practices for producing sterile drug products at each of these facilities, which put patients at risk, the agency said.
