Two Brooklyn Pharmacists Charged With Fraud

The United States charged two Brooklyn, N.Y., pharmacists with fraud in a scheme that allegedly bilked the Medicare prescription drug program of $3 million, according to a complaint unsealed July 26 (United States v. Balyasny).

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, charged Luba Balyasny and Alla Shrayber with conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Balyasny and Shrayber are licensed pharmacists in New York state who co-owned and operated Monica’s Pharmacy and L&A pharmacy.
