Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) will introduce a bill that would allow the government to directly negotiate drug prices for Medicare Part D in an attempt to lower rapidly growing drug costs.
Other direct-negotiation bills have been introduced before, but “the breadth of the negotiating power” the government would gain under this measure sets it apart, Rep. Rohit Khanna (D-Calif.) told Bloomberg Law. It “goes further than many of the other bills in Congress,” he said.
