Target Accused of Patent Infringement With Ritual Vitamin Line

Target Corp. was hit with a new federal lawsuit alleging the retail giant is infringing a Florida supplement technology company’s patent for capsule-in-capsule delivery systems with its its Ritual brand vitamin products.

INNERCAP Technologies Inc. alleged the retailer is infringing its 2010 patent for multi-compartment capsules, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Minnesota. INNERCAP owns US Patent No. 7,670,612, which covers technology that allows different ingredients in oil and solid forms to be combined in separate chambers within a single capsule.
