State Loopholes Handcuff CDC Response to Measles Outbreak

Federal health agencies like the CDC lack authority to require vaccinations in response to ongoing measles outbreaks in New York and Washington states.

Clusters of parents choosing not to vaccinate their children and a proliferation of state loopholes that allow vaccinated parents to skirt school vaccination requirements have been widely blamed for the resurgence in measles cases.
