The European Commission confirmed on Jan. 26 that Sanofi SA and Google Inc.'s joint venture to develop “solutions for the treatment of diabetes” might require clearance from EU competition authorities.
Sanofi announced the joint venture with Google’s subsidiary Verily Life Sciences LLC in August 2015, saying the two will work together on new ways to “collect, analyze and understand multiple sources of information impacting diabetes.” The goal is improved diabetes management through new pairings of traditional and digital monitoring and equipment, they said.
