Roche Sues Natco, Zydus to Block Copies of Spinal Atrophy Drug

Generic versions of Evrysdi proposed by Natco Pharma Ltd. and Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. infringe five patents for the spinal muscular atrophy drug, Roche Holding AG said in a federal lawsuit.

Roche’s Genentech Inc. and Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. subsidiaries allege Zydus’ copies infringe US Patent Nos. 11,534,444 and 11,938,136, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. The Roche units and PTC Therapeutics Inc. also allege Natco’s copies infringe those and US Patent Nos. 9,586,955, 9,969,754, and 11,827,646, which PTC and Hoffman-La Roche jointly own.
