Roche Sues Fresenius to Block Copies of Cancer Drug Alecensa

Roche said Fresenius’s proposed generic version of a lung-cancer treatment infringes four patents for the drug Alecensa.

  • Roche is seeking a court order blocking copies until the patents have expired, according to complaint filed Thursday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • Patents expire in June 2030, May 2031, March 2032 and April 2035, according to supplemental filing
  • Alecensa had U.S. sales of 329 million Swiss francs ($332.8 million) in 2019, 0.6% of Roche’s revenue, according to data compiled by Bloomberg
